#2 Freelancing: A Love Story Between Me, My Laptop, and Existential Dread

Published on 7 February 2026 at 18:10

Freelancing is sold as freedom. Be your own boss, they said. Work from anywhere, they said. What they didn’t mention is the emotional rollercoaster of refreshing your inbox like it owes you money.

Some days, you’re drowning in work, fueled by caffeine and questionable optimism. Other days, you’re staring at your screen wondering if your Wi-Fi is broken or if the universe has simply decided you need “a quiet week to reflect.”

And then there’s the job hunt itself. Writing proposals that somehow manage to sound confident and desperate. Smiling politely at job posts asking for “a quick 500-word test” (unpaid, of course). Competing with 73 other freelancers who are apparently willing to work for exposure and a sandwich.

Still, we persist. Because when it works, it really works. There’s nothing quite like seeing words you wrote actually do something—sell, convert, explain, persuade. That little dopamine hit? Chef’s kiss.

So if you’re a business owner, marketer, or brand currently wondering why your copy isn’t quite landing… maybe it’s not the algorithm. Maybe it’s just time for someone who’s survived the freelance trenches to give it a polish.

No pressure. No hard sell. Just a friendly reminder that somewhere out there is a freelancer who knows your struggle—and happens to write pretty good copy, too.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to refresh my inbox again. Just in case!
